I am new (QA403), and I find the user manual does not clearly explain how the unit works. For instance, I would like to run a simple frequency response curve on a circuit. I have the “getting started” manual. On page 21, it mentions Measurements. It shows a dialog with RMS Measurement Options. Start freq, Stop Freq, How can you find that dialog? And is there a professionally authored user manual anywhere. The kind one gets with test equipment?

Hi @cfedonczak. Right-clicking on the “RMS” button in the QA40X application opens the dialog button window where you enter the “Start” and “Stop” frequency data

I have the unit in loopback mode - output of left channel tied directly to the input of the left channel. I am unable to get a normal flat frequency response curve.
How is this supposed to work? And has anyone written an actual manual for this software?

Just relax and enjoy learning how to use the equipment. There’s the QA manual and there’s plenty of people who will help you here.

You can also download Bob Cordell’s excellent tutorial on the QA403 which will cover pretty much everything you need to learn. It is linked here: [CordellAudio.com - QuantAsylum QA403 Tutorial](https://www.cordellaudio.com/instrumentation/quantasylum.shtml)

FR is set by right clicking the frequency response button and setting these parameters:

The end frequency will be dictated by your sampling rate ~/2
Set the amplitude you wish to output.
Press the run button and wait, you will see a ruler flat line on FR loopback.

Not to tout my my own horn, but you can search Youtube for “Using a QuantAsylum QA40x”- I did a video on how to use it to measure a preamp that might help.

Thank you to you both. I have the frequency response working. I wonder if it is the low literacy rate among our youth that causes companies to avoid comprehensive user manuals. It is becoming a trend.

Hi @cfedonczak, the manual is really just a “This control does XYZ” or “The USB voltage must be V volts” document. What you are after is a really applications manual. The wiki is focused more on how to use the analyzer. I’ve linked to the page below that shows how to setup an frequency response. And also linked in their is Bob Cordell’s Master’s Thesis on measuring amps.
