ampMeasure 1.0.2 is out — important level fix, External mode, new readouts

ampMeasure 1.0.2 is now live on the Mac App Store, as a free update for existing users.

What’s new

  • External source mode: measure DACs and players running on their own clock. The tone is found automatically, with power averaging and a new Blackman-Harris 7 window.
  • New readouts: SINAD, ENOB (optionally referenced to full scale), and absolute noise in µVrms / dBV. The former “SNR” is now labelled as what it is: noise relative to the fundamental.
  • THD: harmonic range up to H22 (REW’s default), harmonics at the noise floor marked, and harmonic labels in the spectrum.
  • Averaging: up to 256 averages with “Stop when averaged”, and an auto-fitting Y axis.
  • Report PNG: settings, spectrum and every channel’s readouts on one page, with its own light/dark setting.
  • Input protection: a hint with a one-click fix when the protection relay keeps cycling.
  • Correct noise at 96/192 kHz: a DC offset no longer leaks into the measurement band.
  • automatic reconnect after unplugging;
  • a working LINK LED;
  • silent connect, with the relays parked safely on quit;
  • range changes go to the QA403 immediately;
  • a timestamped range log in the Probe tab for matching relay clicks.

Thank you to the beta testers.

Coming in 1.1

  • SNR referenced to full scale (unweighted and A-weighted), the way ASR and AP publish it.
  • Dynamic range per AES17 at −60 dBFS.
  • dBFS readouts and a noise floor in nV/√Hz.
  • A power readout for amplifier testing.

After that: selectable FFT length up to 256k.

Feedback and bug reports always welcome!
