Hello, we are sharing this dummy load that we made following this post: Measuring Power Amps · QuantAsylum/QA40x Wiki · GitHub .
Unlike the original, this one is dual-channel, mounted on a heatsink, which may not be necessary, but so the load can be used for extended power tests (generator idle mode). Everything is controlled by a flip-switches.
Hi @Etheraudio, very nice! How are you liking the Arcol loads? I think they are really nice compared to the normal yellow/gold chassis mount. What is the max power you have pushed into your load?
We haven’t put much strain on this dummy-load yet (our amps are tube amps with power of ~50W and most of the cases ~20W).
I’ve run one of these Arcol-resistors without any heat-sink at about 50W, but as far as the QA403 was testing the amp, which I measured with short pulses/samples, the load didn’t get hot at all.
So far we haven’t used such resistors, but mostly yellow/gold mentioned by you.
When we load it in idle mode with more power, I’ll share observations.
