I received a new QA403 last week and it does not seem to be working. I have sent this as an email to support, but I’m hoping someone here might have had this happen, or know how to resolve the problem easily.
When plugged in and the app running, the usual initialization with the 3 LED’s blinking happens, but then the only light illuminated is the “Atten”. The “Link” or “Run” never illuminates.
In the app, in the lower left hand corner it says to select the device, but when I go to that menu, the QA403 is already selected.
None of the functions of the app work because it doesn’t recognize the analyzer.
The “REST” interface won’t load.
I’ve done all the usual things in Windows 11 such as looking at the Device Manager, where the QA403 shows up normally.
I have purchased about a half dozen of these over the last few years, and know them very well, so this is definitely something abnormal. I’ve also tried several iterations of the software, all with the same results. The computer is running Windows 11 and the QA403 doesn’t work either through a powered USB hub (the same model hub I’ve always used), or plugged directly into a USB 3.0 port on the computer (where I’d expect it to initialize properly but probably have low voltage).
The main problem is that the QA-403 doesn’t link with the computer at all. I was hoping that someone might know of a firmware fix to get it to link with the computer. Since it doesn’t link with the computer, there is no voltage readout or any other function.
Hi @Rammis, do you have another QA403 that you could plug in and verify? On the path to shipping, each QA403 runs on two different machines. One to load the image and calibrate the bare board before it goes into the metal case, and another to verify calibration right before it gets put into the cardboard box. If you see the blinking lights, then that means the image was loaded and so it worked on at least one machine at one point.
My guess is it didn’t break on the way there. It’s got to be a cable issue or PC issue.
We can send another today, but please try another cable and/or machine if possible.
In your original post you say you have bought several of these over the past few years. Do you have one of these still on hand? If so, simply plug it into the same cable/ computer as the faulty one and you’ll get your answer.
My entire lab, and the QA-403s I owned burned down in the Eaton fires in January. I’m just re-building my lab setup now.
I just tested it in my wife’s computer and it works normally, so the problem is with my lab computer. The QA-403 enumerates normally in the Device Manager, but it just doesn’t link in any version of the app.
