QA403 device no connection with Window PC

Hi Team,

I faced the issue that the QA403 device does not connected to PC after the updates on the software (it like pop up a dialog window asking for it).

In previous the update seem no problem, it work after that. Now the Device Manager does not show the connection (also for other PC). How about the problem, does the device go faulty?

Hi @Chan,

Just to be sure, I’d try a new cable and USB port on your machine. Once you have verified cable and port selection is fine, you can check to see if the device is in bootloader mode.

Do you hear Windows make a “bing bong” sound when you plug it in but it doesn’t connect to the app? If so, it’s probably stuck in bootloader mode. At the link below, you can see how to find if the device is in bootloader mode. It will have VID:PID of 1FC9:0022. This is called “HID mode” because it looks like a normal USB HID device.

If you can find that HID device in device manager, then in the QA40x application, type ‘qa40x’ without quotes. Used number keys above letters and not 9-key pad for entry of numerics. You should hear a beep and a new menu will appear called ‘Debug’. From the new Debug menu, select “Load default secure image (must be in HID mode)”

The app will load the firmware image needed for that version of the app. And from then on, you should be able to switch to a new release and have the image automatically updated again.

Please try and report back if this works. If not, we might have to remove the top on the QA403 and jumper some pins with tweezers to force HID mode. But please try this first!

Hi @matt

The QA403 device can use now. Thank for the guides.

Chan
