QA40x Application 'Poof' v1.209

I now have two laptops where the splash screen comes up, but the application GUI is not shown.
The QA403 device is detected by the PCs and shown in Device Manager. One laptop is Win 11 and the other is Win 10, so nothing common there. It works fine on every other PC I’ve tried. Have tried v1.202 but no difference. Have also tried running the app as admin with no difference either.

Anyone have any ideas?

Cheers

Hi @beachside, can you uninstall 1.209, and then install 1.202. But before you run it, go to the MyDocs\QuantAsylum\QA40x folder and rename that to ```QA40x_old``.

And then run 1.202. Does it come up?

@matt - same issue here
MyDocs\QuantAsylum\QA40x\ contains NO entries to any of the log files
MyComputer\EventViewer\ is non-conclusive as well

following your instructions now and will post back shortly

note: for clarity, using Windows Uninstall

@matt - and, we have lift-off
1.202 starts up just fine without hardware attached
also note: 1.208 starts up just fine as well

note: in both cases, the install was executed under the Admin context, and startup was prompted under the same Admin context

I am happy to run a Trace against v1.209, if possible
but I suspect that command line params will be needed
let me know how I can help
UPDATE for command line params:
\QA40x>QA40x.exe -H

UPDATE: and just like that, 1.209 now starts up
prob a missing library that 1.209 requires and previous versions install?

should prob update runtime labels and such - toolbar prompts for connecting to the QA402

Hi Matt. Thanks but that didn’t fix it for me. I tried uninstall and rename on both versions.

Hi @beachside, so let’s focus on the Win10/Win11 machines that aren’t working. Can you please reboot the machine (to make sure there’s not a zombie remnant of QA40x.exe still running). And then uninstall whatever QA40x you have installed. Then go to the c:\program files (x86)\QuantAsylum\Qa40x and manually delete that folder. Then go to MyDocs\QuantAsylum\Qa40x and delete that folder. Reboot. Then install 1.202 without the QA40x hardware attached and see if that comes up.

Please report back when time permits!

Thanks for your help Matt.

I have fixed the Win 10 one with a deinstall and reinstall of 1202, then 1209. But I now think the Win 11 one is some kind of hidden (no error etc) rights issue, as it’s a corporate laptop and I have most admin rights, but not 100% full admin rights. (I have it working fine on two other Win 11 PCs.)

Thanks again. Love the QA!
